Shield Gules, on top of an embattled wall Argent masoned Sable a church of the same with apse and two towers, all with roofs Azure topped by crosslets Or.
Meaning:
Already the oldest city seal from the 13th century displayed the church. The tinctures are known since 1544. The shape of the embattled wall caused a misinterpretation as a chequered fess in tinctures red and white, in the 19th century predominantly in Bavarian tinctures white and blue. Otto Hupp (1925) restored the embattled wall.
