Description of flag:
The ratio is 3:5. It is a white over red over white horizontal triband. The municipal coat of arms is shifted to the hoist.

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (white) shield are three green trees ordered fessy. Their roots are superimposing the green base. The red chief is superimposed by a golden (= yellow) coronet.
Meaning:
The colours red and white are those of Holstein. Coronet and trees are canting elements. The cornet is erroneously representing "Kron-", which is interpreted as "crown", although in this case it should be crane. The trees are symbolizing "-hagen", which is a hague or grove. They are also alluding to the green environment. The inhabitants are denoting the municipality as a garden city. Kronshagen is just west of Kiel, enclosed by the city from three sides, and known as a better quarter and sometimes erroneously considered to be a suburb of Kiel.

The flag was approved on 2 November 1988. The coat of arms was approved on 30 August 1976. The artist is Hans Frieder Kühne from Barsbüttel.
