Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield are three golden (= yellow) hills.
Meaning:
Bühl was mentioned as a market town in the early 13th century. In 1386 it was divided. The northern part became a possession of Baden, while the southern part remained a fiefdom of the Lords of Windeck. There is evidence that seals had been in use since 1409, prints exist since 1453. The three hills are canting, symbolizing the location of the town in a hilly countryside. "Bühl" is the name of Baggins' cave in the German translation of "Lord of the Rings", probably meaning a neck. It is also a South German equivalent of "Hügel" (hill). The hills, looking like upside down inescutcheons, had been misinterpreted as beehives or landmarks in the 19th century. The old interpretation was confirmed in 1900.
