Description of coat of arms:
Shield parted per fess; above Azure a grain sheaf Or, flanked by two stems raguly Argent; beneath Or a dolmen Gules.
Meaning:
The upper half is symbolising the transformation of heather and groves to fertile cropland. The stems are also alluding to the Dorgeloh family, who founded Lethe Estate and lived for centuries in the castle of the Bishops of Münster. The sheaf was also part of the arms of the Count of Wasaburg, an illegitimate son of the Swedish King Gustav Adolf. The dolmen is symbolising the very early peopling of the area.
The arms were approved in 1948 by Minister of Interior of Lower Saxony.
