The ratio is approx. 7:4. It is a blue over yellow horizontal bicolour. The coat of arms is shifted to the hoist.

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) field a green oak, accompanied by a silver (= white) stone is standing on the dexter side, while a silver church with red roofs is standing on the sinister side. The blue base is superimposed by a golden (= yellow) sheaf. Above all are two black ears of grain pointing outward.
Meaning:
The church is the local parish church, an example for the many local "Vicelin churches", which had been built since 1156 by command of Count Adolf II of Holstein and Bishop Gerold of Lübeck. The tree is Blücher's Oak, which reminds on the honourable surrender of Prussian field marshal Blücher in the 1806 campaign against Napoleon. The grain is symbolizing agriculture.

The banner was approved on 27 June 1988. The coat of arms was adopted on 12 September 1946. The artist is /Julius Krogel/ from Ratekau.
