The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a blue over white horizontal bicolour with centred arms.

Description of coat of arms:
Shield parted per pale, at dexter Azure an antler Argent, at sinister Argent a salt hook Azure flanked by two hurts, base wavy in counterchanged colours, the dexter base charged with a hurt.
Meaning:
The antler is a modification (Minderung) of the arms of the Counts of Dassel, whose arms displayed a pair of antlers with eight points, while the municipal arms display just one half of it with four points. The salt hooks are symbolising the historical salt mining in the municipality, which was first mentioned in the 9th century. The hurts (=blue discs) are representing former Nienover municipality, which was incorporated in 1974. The wavy line is representing former Wahmbeck municipality, also incorporated in 1974.
The arms were approved on 22 February 1977.
