Grafenwöhr Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter lozengy of Argent and Azure; at sinister Sable a lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The arms are based on the oldest city seal, known by prints since 1508 and probably made in the 15th century. The pattern remained basically the same, but since 1567 the lion mostly was painted without coronet. The lion and the lozenges are referring to the local rulers from the Wittelsbach kin. The tinctures were confirmed by a painting from 1812. On occasion of the confirmation of the arms the lion had been put onto a silver field in 1819. At the end of the 19th century until 1925, painted by Otto Hupp, a red field prevailed with a lion crowned golden, as already displayed sporadically in the 16th century.

The banner probably has never been approved officially. The arms are in use since the 15th century and were confirmed in 1819.
