Eschenbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above parted per pale; at dexter Sable a lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules; at sinister lozengy of Argent and Azure; beneath Gules a fish Argent finned Or.
Meaning:
The oldest local seal, known by a print from 1382, displayed on a shield parted per fess a fish beneath and an issuant lion above. It had been the Bohemian lion, as the area had been pawned to the Kingdom of Böhmen. The fish (local language: Äsche) is a canting element. Seals since the 15th century stressed that the sovereignty had been regained by the Wittelsbach kin, and the Bohemian lion was replaced by his Bavarian counterpart and the lozeneges were added. Since the middle of the 16th century the current pattern also was displayed in rolls of arms. It changed in minor details, such as a lion uncrowned or the fish on a field parted per fess of red and blue.

The banner probably has never been approved officially. The arms are in use since the 14th century.
