Vertical Flag

Description of banner:
It is a green - white vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is shifted to the top.
Source: I spotted an image of this flag within a presentation of Jörg Majewski in Rastatt. An image of the same flag, unfortunately shot in the evening, can also be found on the city's webpage.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield on the dexter side stands a girl with bare feet, dressed in silver (=white) dress, the skirt's inseem and the braoad belt are golden(= yellow). She wears a silver (=white) hat with scarf and holds a golden branch in her right hand. Face, hands and feet are in natural colour. The girl is accompanied by a silver goose. The whole ensemble is standing on a green base. Above on the sinister side is a silver(=white) shield showing a red, rampant lion crowned, armed and tongued blue. The shield is of rococo type and golden with very thin black fimbriations.
Please note, that the girl is described as silver, i.e. all limbs, belt and inseem are also silver. This is not only said by Stadler 1972 and but also within the local Hauptsatzung.

Meaning:
According to source the girl's right forefinger is pointing to her mouth. The image is taken from seals of the Aschenbroich family, who had been reeves (German:/Vögte) in Monheim in 17th and 18th century. The whole ensemble, a taciturn virgin and a blithering goose are alluding to the proverb: "Gossip aggrieves!" The shield is symbolizing the counts of Berg, the former rulers, and was added later.
Stadler 1972, p.70
