Fischbachau Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a fess wavy Argent; above parted per pale, at dexter paly of seven of Or and Gules, at sinister Azure a fess dancetty Or; beneath Azure a Marian crown Or gemmed Azure and Gules.
Meaning:
The fess wavy is representing the location in the Leitzach valley. The dexter upper quarter is taken from the arms of the Scheyern Abbey, alluding to the founder Haziga of Aragon, the consort of Palatine Count Otto of Scheyern-Wittelsbach. The fess dancetty displays the oldest heraldic symbol of the Wittelsbach kin. Haziga founded a local abbey in 1085, which was transformed later to Scheyern. The connection remained until 1803, when the abbey was secularised. Until then Fischbachau had been seat of a provost. The Marian crown is symbolising the pilgrimage to the chapel of Birkenstein, dedicated to Our Lady of Assumption, since the beginning of the 18th century. The pilgrimage was promoted by the Scheyern Abbey.
