Shield Gules, on base Vert an embattled wall Argent masoned Sable with port Sable, issuant from wall a church Argent with roofs Gules and a belfry having oriels.
Meaning:
Marktgraitz had been a market town since 1570. The first description of the church on the arms from 1748, a representation of the local fortified church, mentions nearly every detail. The village Graitz had been seat of a low level court (Zehntgericht), which is proven by the circumscription on the local seal. In 1894 the name of the village was changed to Marktgraitz.

The arms were granted in 1748 by Count Philipp of Henneberg, also being Bishop of Bamberg.
