Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent a panther rampant Gules spitting fire of the same armed Or, at sinister lozengy of Argent and Azure.
Meaning:
The first town seal displaying the current pattern probably was made between 1330 and 1340. Prints exist since 1374 . The panther is the heraldic animal of the branch line of the Counts of Kraiburg-Ortenburg from the Spanheim kin. They gained the Title of a Palatine Count of Bayern in 1208. The lozenges are referring to their successors from the Wittelsbach kin. Since 1500 a different pattern developed on seals and later on rolls of arms, first painted by Hans Mielich in 1565. The pattern displayed a lozengy shield with a bend Argent charged with a canting black beaver tailed blue.

The banner was approved and the arms were confirmed on 18 February 1955 by Minister of Interior of Bayern.
