Shield Gules an embattled tower Argent as seen from corner and charged with an inescutcheon quartered, 1st and 4th quarter Argent a pair of shearer's scissors Gules in fess, 2nd and 3rd quarter Gules a swan statant Argent.
Meaning:
The oldest town seal was made around 1551. It already displayed the tower with the inescutcheons, showinging the family arms of the Giech family, displaying the scissors, and of the Künssberg family, dsplaying a pile Argent in a blue field. Georg of Giech and Hans Georg of Künssberg had been enfeoffed with the local fortress in 1551. The Lords of Giech gained complete control in 1731, and since then the swans from the family's greater arms were introduced. In the 19th century there had been an additional triplemount in base, which was omitted by Otto Hupp, because it had not been part of the oldest town seals.
