Shield Azure, a church Or with four towers and a spire, all with roofs Gules, standing on top of an inescutcheon Or, charged with a lion rampant Sable, armed and tongued Gules and superimposed by a bendlet Argent.
Meaning:
The current pattern was first found on seals from the 15th century and from 1641. Furthermore it had been in the Roll of Vassals of the Bishopric of Bamberg from 1603. The building was either interpreted in 1812 as castle of the Rabenstein kin or in 1889 as local town hall. The inescutcheon as a symbol of foreign sovereignty, here of the Bishopric of Bamberg, was omitted between 1819 and 1836. Afterwards the original pattern was restored. The tinctures were fixed in 1953.
