Meaning:
The arms show the blue lion of Veldenz and a differentiated Palatine lion. The largest part of the county belonged to the Counts of Veldenz during the late Middle Ages. They founded a castle in Emichonen in 1115 and named themselves after the area (von Veldenz). They ruled until 1444, when Veldenz was incorporated into the Principality of Pfalz-Zweibrücken. Between 1393 and 1444 the princes gradually acquired most of the county and kept it until the end of the 19th century.
