Shield Vert, a heraldic rose Or barbed and seeded Gules, chief engrailed Argent cotized Sable.
Meaning:
The chief is not properly engrailed but shaped like a line of Romanic archs. The chief is alluding to the nunnery of Augustinians, founded by the Counts of Schaumburg and first mentioned in 1224.Its church is the nowadays parish church. The green colour is representing the former rural character and the local woods and acres. The rose is taken from the arms of the Counts of Pappenburg. Bernard of Pappenburg in the past was affiliated with Wennigsen.
