Shield Or a demi-boar salient Sable armed Argent and tongued Gules, issuant from base a throughout bridge Gules with banister.
Meaning:
Ebern belonged to the Bishopric of Würzburg and was mentioned as a city around 1230. A privilege including the city rights is known from 1335. Ebern had been seat of a major parish. The oldest seals since 1352 until the 16th century thus displayed a church. In the late 18th century city seals displayed the city hall, a house built in half timber. The boar was however displayed on rolls of arms since 1544, being different from the seals. Since the 19th century the boar was displayed on seals together with the bridge, alluding to the Baunach River. The current tinctures appeared first in 1835 and were kept by Otto Hupp in 1930.
