Shield quartered of Argent and Gules, over all a knight statant in blue armour, and sword in blue sheath, he holds a halberd Azure hilted Argent by his right hand, in sinister chief a T-shaped fork Argent.
Meaning:
The oldest seal probably was made during the 14th century. Prints exist from 1432, but the pattern is only known by descriptions, displaying just the quartered flag of the Bishopric of Würzburg, to which the city historically belonged. The current pattern is known by seals since 1512. The knight is punning, referring to a "Heltmann", i.e. a man under armour. The background tinctures are proven since the 16th century, in 1655 also as Argent and Azure. The fork was added in the 19th century.
