In a silver (= white) shield, standing upon the green base is the Goddess Justitia with her proper attributes, sword and scales (both golden (=yellow)) and a silver (= white) blindfold. Justitia is dressed in a blue robe and a red cloak.
Meaning:
Ilshofen gained city rights in 1330 by Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian, when it was ruled by the Counts of Hohenlohe. The oldest seal from the 14th century displays St. Lawrence, the patron saint of the city. Probably after the Protestant Reformation in the early 16th century the saint was replaced by the image of Justitia in the seals. The figure of Justitia appears on the coat arms first in 1590 and has not changed since then. The current colours were fixed in 1956.
