Meaning:
The municipality was established on 1 January 2009, when the municipalities Grabsleben with the former municipalities of Großrettbach und Cobstädt, Mühlberg, Seebergen and Wandersleben merged. On 6 July 2018 the municipality merged with Günthersleben-Wechmar. Seat of the municipality is Wandersleben.
Drei Gleichen is an ensemble of three local mountains, each one being seat of a castle, Burg Gleichen, Mühlburg and Wachtenburg. The castles were built between the 8th and 11th century and never had the same owners. The name, meaing three equal (castles) had been chosen, after a globe lightning had hit them at the same time in May 1231.
The arms are displaying the three castles, each one on top of its mountain. The number of stars is representing the former eight municipalities. In 2015 the first Drei Gleichen Municipality had adopted a similar coat of arms displaying only six of the eight stars, as Günthersleben and Wechmar had not yet been parts of Drei Gleichen.
