Shield parted per fess enhanced, above Argent a castle sable, beneath Gules a bar wavy Argent over a facetted 6-point star of Argent and Sable.
Meaning:
The upper part shows the Friedenstein castle, the largest baroque castle in Europe and the ducal residence in Gotha. The wavy bar is the Leina canal, dug in the 14th century to supply the city of Gotha with water. The star is derived from the old arms of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
