Shield Or a Gothic church Gules with open port Or and a demi-horse passant Argent leaving the church.
Meaning:
Burgrave Friedrich of Nürnberg granted city rights in 1328 with permission of King Ludwig the Bavarian. They were confirmed in 1355 by King Karl IV. Both grants didn't have however any consequences. Seals wirh prints since 1501 displayed the current pattern, alluding to the misspelled name "Roßstall", which is a horse stable. In 1819 a town seal was introduced, which means that in between the city had been downgraded to a market town. The details of the building, being in fact a church, changed frequently. The current arms ar based on an image of Otto Hupp.
