Shield Argent, a bear rampant Sable, armed and tongued Gules, holding an inescutcheon parted per fess of Vert and Or by his forepaws.
Meaning:
The village had been a possession of Sankt Gallen Abbey since 786. The Lords of Snewlin Bernlapp of Bollschweil had been local rulers of the half village since the 16th century, later over the whole village, only interrupted by a rule of the Society of Jesus between 1635 and 1775. The bear is taken from the arms of the abbey, the inescutcheon displays the family arms of the Snewlin kin.
