Meaning:
In 1977 the former counties of Soltau and Fallingbostel merged. The seat of the new county is Bad Fallingbostel. The upper part shows the lion from the arms of the Dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg, who ruled the area for many centuries. The lion is also part of the arms of the city and of the former county of Soltau. The cross in base of the old Soltau County arms is derived from the arms of the Bishopric of Verden, as in the Middle Ages a large part of the county was owned by the bishops. The dolmen is taken from the arms of former Fallingbostel County, where it was however black on a white chief in an elsewhere plain green shield.
