Shield sinister bendy of six of Or and Azure.
Meaning:
Plochingen was first mentioned as a village in the 12th century. Due to a strongly increasing number of inhabitants and economic development it gained city rights in 1948. The name of the village is said to be derived from Bloko, the name of an Alemannic settler. The first coat of arms from 1915 displayed a golden block in a blue shield as a punnimg element. The current arms were introduced in 1931, reminding on the pattern of the family arms of the Lords of Plochingen, local rulers between the 12th and 14th century. The tinctures of their arms had been however black and yellow (= golden).
