Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (= white) shield is a black capital ""O"".
Meaning:
Owen was established before 1225 by the Dukes of Teck close to their castle and became their capital. In 1326/1381 both parts of the city became a possession of Württemberg. The letter "O" as the city's initial appeared for the first time on 15th century seals. As arms the it is known since 1535. From the late 17th until the early 20th century often an attire for Württemberg was placed over the letter. The present arms were officially adopted in 1931 and are identical to the 16th century arms.
