Kinding Coat of Arms

Shield Vert a fortified church Argent with roofs Gules over an abased fess wavy Argent, in centre surmounted by an inescutcheon Argent mantled at dexter Gules and at sinister Azure, in dexter chief an impending umbel of hops.
Meaning:
Kinding was augmented on 1 April 1971 by a merger of Badanhausen, Enkering, Erlingshofen, Haunstetten, Kinding proper and Unteremmendorf. The central figure is the fortified church of the market town, a landmark of the market itself and the town. It was sanctified in 1357 and is said to be the biggest fortified church in the Bishopric of Eichstätt. Kinding, first mentioned in 900 as Chunimuntinga, had already been a market town during the late Medieval. Nevertheless there had been no proper seals. The inescutcheon displays the family arms of the Lords of Absberg, who owned Rumburg Castle near Enkering between 1361 and 1546. The inescutcheon is also representing the many castles in the area of the town and the noblemen, who owned them. The fess wavy is representing the rivers Altmühl, Anlauter and Schwarzach, which merge in Kinding. The umbel is symbolising the cultivation of hops since the 17th century.
