Adelschlag Coat of Arms

Shield Or parted by a cross patty Gules, flanked by four blossoms Gules and in centre charged with an inescutcheon Gules, charged with a crozier issuant Argent.
Meaning:
The blossoms are representing the settlement cores Möckenlohe, Ochsenfeld (both incorporated 1971), Pietenfeld ( incorporated 1978) and Adelschlag proper. The blossoms are also referring to the location on a plateau between the rivers Altmühl and Donau (Danube). The inescutcheon displays the arms of the Bishopric of Eichstätt, to which the area belonged until 1803. The region between the rivers Altmühl and Schutter probably is part of the oldest area belonging to the bishopric since 740. The cross patty is taken from the arms of the Order of the Templars, which had a commandery in Moritzbrunn (before 1251 until 1315) and owned the Tempelhof Estate. The order had great influence also in Adelschlag.
