Shield Azure, crescent recumbent Argent with face, entwined with a horseshoe Or, surrounded by seven 6-point stars Or, five above and two beneath. In base a heraldic rose Argent seeded Azure and barbed Or.
Meaning:
The local courtyards of Roßdorf and Gundernhausen used common seals, proven by a circumscription of a common seal from the 16th century. Local court and mayor's seals from the 19th century however displayed a canting horse (German: Ross) with six stars and the crescent above. In 1952 the former (common) arms were restored. There is no explanation about the rose.
The current arms were approved in 1952.
