Shield parted per fess, above Argent an eagle's claw Gules, beneath lozengy of Gules and Argent.
Meaning:
The settlement was founded by the Hohenberg kin and was a city since 1330. Since the first seal prints from 1407 until the 19th century, all seals displayed the Hohenberg family arms (a shield parted per fess). Coloured images since 1586 also displayed a shield parted per fess, but erroneously of Argent and Sable. The correct tinctures Argent and Gules appeared since 1604. Between 1820 and 1902 the upper half displayed the eagle's claw beneath an attire, in order to stress the sovereignty of Württemberg since 1363. The lozengy lower half is based on an error and had in fact been the damscene of the red field in base.
