It is a red-white vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is shifted towards the top (see left image above) or in a white bannerhead (see right image above). Under the shield is a black inscription "STADT RÖTZ".

Shield Argent, in base behind a wyvern couchant Vert spitting fire Gules, in front a saint nimbed Or and dressed Gules, holding a palm frond Vert by her dexter hand and a Latin cross Sable by her sinister hand.
Meaning:
The oldest local seal is known by prints since 1417. It already displayed St. Margareth with her usual attribute, the wyvern. Since the 3rd seal and in the Roll of Arms of Philipp Apian (1516) the wyvern is alone. He painted the dragon golden on a blue shield. The pattern with saint was restored on seals since the 17th century and was the exclusive pattern since the 19th century. The tinctures were fixed in 1955 by the Bavarian government.

The colours of the banner are traditional. The banner was approved and the arms were confirmed on 29 October 1955 by Minister of Interior of Bayern.
