It is a white-green vertical bicolour without arms (see left image above) or with arms shifted to the top (see right image above) .

It was a white flag with two green vertical stripesand the arms in a green bannerhead.

Shield Argent a trefoil Vert.
Meaning:
The trefoil appeared first in 1562, held by a hand between two crescents on the seal of a bailiff of the provosts of Bamberg. A local seal from 1723, an architectural sculpture, boundary stones in the 18th century, and last but not least connected with the Brandenburgian eagle, a court seal after 1792 all displayed three trefoils on a triplemount. When the city was acquired by Bayern, in 1818 the arms displayed one trefoil, surrounded by a green oak branch. In 1939 the branch was abolished, and a banner was introduced. The colours of stem and veins of the trefoil changed slightly during the years.
