Shield parted per fess of Gules and Argent, over all an orb Azure with cross and circlet Or.
Meaning:
In 1562 Emperor Ferdinand I granted arms to the market town of Schwabmünchen. They are known by a painting of a seal print from the 18th century. The charge was considered to be an orb. But in 1818 this symbol was declared as unacceptable. A shield was chosen, parted per fess with a cross Or above and a blue ball beneath. In 1953 the town gained city rights. The local council applied for new arms, based on the old pattern of the local symbol. A version from the local cadastral land register from 1720 was chosen, which had been also displayed on boundary stones before 1803.

The banner was approved in 1961. The arms were approved on 1 September 1960 by Minister of Interior of Bayern.
