It is a red-white-blue vertical tricolour with (see left image above) or without (see right image above) coat of arms shifted towards the top.

Shield Azure a cross Gules on top of a 6-fold mount issuant from base, flanked by two stemmed fleur-de-lis Argent.
Meaning:
The amrs are based on the oldest city seal from 1264, immediately made after the foundation of the city by Duke Ludwig of Bayern and German King Konradin. This seal was mentioned in 1297 and known by a print from 1304. The seal already displayed the current pattern. The fleur-de-lis are symbolising the local court of justice. The cross is symbolising the public peace of the market. The pattern changed in details. The cross was erroneously painted as a cross of St. Anthony around 1600. The 6-fold mount, in fact two tiplemounts in pale, sometimes was replaced by an 8-fold mount. The tinctures however remained the same. The arms are punning, alluding to a mountain of peace (German: Friedensberg).

The banner was approved in 1964 by Minister of Interior of Bayern. The arms are in use since the 13th century.
