Estrela do Norte originates in a settlement known as Patrimônio Dragão, founded by José de Paula Carvalho (Zé Chiquita). Its next owner, Colonel Albino da Cruz Sobrinho, renamed it Patrimônio Coronel Albino, and eventually Patrimônio Estrela do Norte, for an estate of the same name he owned in Minas Gerais. Albino started the development of an urban nucleus, with the help of Colônia Japonesa. The district of Estrela do Norte was established on 30 December 1953 by Law No. 2,456, as part of the municipality of Pirapozinho.
