Barra Bonita's name means something like "beautiful estuary."
The flag conforms to one of the ubiquitous Arcinóe Antônio Peixoto de Faria’s
standard designs and so is probably by him. It is dark blue with a horizontal band
divided horizontally white-red-white, and
the municipal coat of arms on a white triangle at the hoist.
