The flag and arms of Ibiam are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 25
promulgated on 25 April 1997.
Article 2.
The coat of arms shall be
constituted as follows.
I - In the upper part, the sun and the sky,
important for fertility, and places of the region well defined for their
suitability to diverse crops.
II - In the central part, the municipality's
natural resources, symbolized by plantations for the plant resources,
especially tobacco and maize, as featured laterally on the left and right. The
plantations are crossed by a river symbolizing the hydrographic basin of
extreme relevance for a rural municipality. The green forests symbolize
reserves, while the Brazilian pines represent rainforest that was a source of
income resulting in the region's colonization.
III - In the lower part are
represented animals: a pig, a cow, a horse and a hen, symbolizing the
exploration of diverse economical activities and the municipality's main
sources of income.
IV- In the lower external part a scroll symbolizing Union
and Force of the Ibiam's people, inscribed on the left with "9897", the number
of the Law that transformed a dream into a reality with the municipality's
emancipation, in the center with the name of the municipality of Ibiam, and on
the right with its date of emancipation, 20 July 1995.
Article 5.
The
municipal flag shall be as follows.
A panel with green, white and red colors
arranged vertically, charged in the center with the coat of arms of the
municipality described in Article 2.
