The municipality of Boa Vista das Missões (2,104 inhabitants in 2018; 19,482
ha) is located 330 km of Porto Alegre.
The district of Boa Vista was
established within Palmeiras das Missões by Municipal Law No. 645 promulgated on
24 April 1963. The municipality of Boa Vista do Missões was established by State
Law No. 9,539 promulgated on 20 March 1992, and inaugurated on 1 January 1993.
The district of São João was established by Municipal Law No. 134 promulgated on
2 June 1995.
