26 August 2011The flag and arms of Juranda are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 244 
promulgated on 17 December 1992.
Article 1.
The flag of the 
municipality of Juranda, designed by Reynaldo Valascki (heraldist and 
vexillologist) has the following characteristics.
§1. The municipal flag of 
Juranda has the proportions of the national flag and is composed of a red 
(gules) triangle placed along the hoist (left), and two equal horizontal 
stripes, the upper blue (azure) and the lower green (vert). The two stars in the 
triangle represent the two districts. The white (argent) central stripe is 
distinctively wider. In the center of the flag is placed the municipal coat of 
arms.
Article 2.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Juranda, 
designed by Reynaldo Valascki (heraldist and vexillologist) has the following 
characteristics.
§1. The mural crown surmounting he shield is the universal 
symbol of domains; it is yellow (or) with eight towers, only five of them 
visible in perspective view.
§2. The black (sable) windows of the mural crown 
represent the proper attributes of the pioneers, developers and administrators 
of the community.
§3. The first, left quarter features a forest and crop 
plantations, highlighting the pioneers and developers' work.
§4. The second, 
right quarter features an inkpot, a quill, a terrestrial globe and a map, 
symbolizing education and culture.
§5. In the center, a sinuous line 
represents the rivers in the municipal territory.
§6. The third, left quarter 
features two animals (oxen) symbolizing the livestock resources in the 
municipality and its greening pastures.
§7. The fourth quarter features a 
tractor and a farmer plowing the land, since agriculture is mechanized on the 
whole municipal territory and a main source of income for the municipality.
§8. The escutcheon featured in the shield's upper part includes an image of the 
Blessed Virgin with Baby Jesus, symbolizing the municipality's patron saint.
§9. The triangle in base of the shield features a Mercury's helmet symbolizing 
commerce in the municipality.
§10. The shield is supported dexter by maize 
and bean plants and sinister by soybean and wheat plants; between the shield and 
the scroll, rice and cotton plants.
§11. A red scroll inscribed in the center 
with the toponym "JURANDA" surrounded left by date "16-12-1981", the date of 
creation of the municipality, and right by date "01-02-1983", the date of 
political emancipation of the municipality of Juranda.
