The municipality of Mallet (13,595 inhabitants in 2018; 72,309 ha) is located
200 km south-west of Curitiba.
The flag of Mallet is prescribed by
Municipal Law No. 216 promulgated on 23 November 1973.
Article 1.
The
flag of Mallet was designed by Professor Glêisi Terezinha Lopacinski, director
of Escola Normal Prof. Rocha Pombo in Mallet.
Article 2.
The flag is
rectangular with green and white as its basic colors, symbolizing forest
resources and peace, respectively. The rectangle's background is green with a
white transverse stripe charged in the center with the coat of arms of the
municipality. The shield is composed of two colors, white, for peace, and blue,
symbolizing hope in the next dawn. The shield features in foreground a Brazilian
pine highlighting Paraná's resources in wood. On the blue field, the three stars
symbolize the three races of the early colonizers of Mallet: Brazilians,
Japanese, and Ukrainian. The shield is supported by rice plants, which represent
the base of the municipality's income. Beneath the shield a white scroll
inscribed with "MALLET".
