The flag is blue at the hoist and red in the fly, with horizontal and vertical stripes in
the center forming a cross. The colors are those of the French flag,
in homage to the importance of the French officer Guido Thomaz
Marlière in the history of Ubá. The colors also have the meanings commonly ascribed in
Brazilian municipal heraldry. On the center of the cross is the
coat of arms. The field is silver. On the center, superimposed on black musical staves
(in honor of the composer Ary Barroso), is a red escutcheon charged with five silver lions rampant in
saltire. Issuing from the top of the escutcheon is a red demi-lion rampant.
On either side is a green ubá cane. In base is a blue "terrace" divided by a white wavy barrulet.
Supporting the shield on either side are branches of tobacco placed upon
smoking chimneys. The scroll is inscribed with the name of the municipality
flanked by the date 3 July 1857.
