Doig River First Nation is located 30 km northwest of Fort St. John (British Columbia) on two reserves totaling 1358.1 hectares. It was recognized as the St. John Beaver Band in 1950. Changed name in 1962, becoming the Fort St. John Band. In 1977, Fort St. John split in two, forming the Doig River and Blueberry River First Nations.
