The Island Heights Yacht Club was founded in 1898. Its stated purpose at the
time was the promotion of yachting and rowing. The latter is no longer in the
focus of the club, though. In 1914, the club became a founding member of the
Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association.
The club's burgee is a white
field, with on it in the hoist a red saltire, and in the fly a blue five-pointed
star.
