The Boston Yacht Club (BYC) was founded in 1866 by three Dartmouth alumni and incorporated in 1868. The club has kept only the Marblehead stations while it owned in 1910 six stations, following successive club mergers.
The burgee of the BYC, as shown graphically on the club's website, is white with a blue (horizontal arm) and red (superimposed, vertical arms) cross charged with a white star.

The original burgee of BYC was a swallow-tailed pennant charged with a red saltire and a blue anchor placed per bend in the first quarter. In 1872, the field of the burgee was changed to blue and the anchor was replaced by a white star. Following the absorption of the Hull Yacht Club (HYC) in 1903, the BYC adopted the HYC burgee, red with a blue saltire and a white star in the middle. This burgee was changed in 1904 for the current one.
