The Barnegat Inlet Yacht Club is a bit of a mystery. Their website at
http://www.biyc.net doesn't tell you all that
much about them. The actual "Barnegat Inlet, is of course a stretch of water, so
it's not very practical as a yacht harbour, though parts of it are less than 5
foot deep, so if there is a problem in rafting up, it wouldn't be that the
skippers couldn't reach one another. The club was founded in 1980, according to
the Yachting Club of America members list.
The light in the burgee is, of
course, Barnegat Light House. As far as I can make out, Barnegat Light is indeed
the home harbour of the club. But that isn't to say that they are the Barnegat
Light Yacht Club: That's a different yacht club, slightly further south.
