"Celebrating Flag Day in Hayward.
On June 14, 1777, the Continental
Congress, seeking to promote national pride and unity, adopted the
Stars and Stripes as the national standard of the United States. On
June 14, 2016, the Hayward City Council adopted the Hayward Centennial
Flag as the Flag of Hayward. The design uses the international code of
signals flags of “H” for Hayward and “W” for Wisconsin. The left half
of the “H” flag is white and the right half is red; the red, white and
blue “W” flag is centered on the white section of the “H” flag."
