King and Queen County is located in eastern Virginia, on the Middle Peninsula, north and east of the city of Richmond. Founded in 1691 when it was separated from neighboring New Kent County, King and Queen County was named for King William III and Queen Mary II, the same namesakes of Virginia's College of William and Mary. King and Queen County has no incorporated towns or cities within its boundaries, and the county seat is located in the unincorporated village of King and Queen Court House.

The flag of King and Queen County can be seen in photographs of the 2016 Virginia Association of Counties (VACo) annual conference. The flag features the county seal centered on a white field. The county seal is in the form of a coat of arms. The shield may be blazoned "Vert, semé of gouttes Or, a crown of the Second between two bars dancety Argent." The helmet is crowned by a wreath of colors Or and Vert, showing an outstretched Native American hand Gules grasping an ear of corn Or. The shield is supported by a wyvern and a bull, both Sable armed Or and langed Gules. A white banner beneath the shield and supporters bears the motto "PRO DEO ET PATRIA" (For God and Country) in black capital letters. Arched above the coat of arms in black script letters are the words "King & Queen County," with the word "Virginia" below the coat of arms in similar lettering.
