County Seat: Perryton Area: 919 square miles Pop. (2000): 9,006
Ochiltree County employs the Texas State Flag with its own symbols: a white disc bearing the county name between two red rings charged with symbols representative of the county. Within the inner ring is the red outline of a heart, inscribed "Wheatheart of Nation" in white script. Inside the heart are blue representations of a cow, oil drilling equipment, and grain storage and processing facilities. Passing behind the disk are three golden wheat stalks. The Lone Star has been placed in its usual position, but overlaps the disc and is outlined in red.
The flag was designed by Jolene Clement as an entry to a contest sponsored by the Ochiltree County Chamber of Commerce, and was adopted on 26 June 1985."
