The flag was adopted in 1970. It was designed by Mrs. James Thompson with some assistance from Mrs. James Russell. The three main panels of the flag depict a factory which shows Collierville's growth in the industrial area, a bale of cotton and cows head shows the farming and dairy ties to Collierville, and the church shows the spititual interests of Collierville.
