Flag of Campbell County

The following is a description of the flag of Campbell County and what it's symbolism represents:

In honor of Arthur Campbell, after whom Campbell County is named, the colors are gold with crimson lettering. Arthur Campbell was of Scottish heritage whose colors are black and gold.

On a circular field with borders are the words, Campbell County Tennessee USA, two stars and the date 1806, the year in which Campbell County was created. The two stars represent the northern and southern areas of Campbell County.

In the center of the circular field are the four pillars of the front portico of the Campbell County Courthouse. These ionic columns represent the mountains, valleys, streams, and lakes of Campbell County.

Above the symbolic courthouse are the Roman numerals for the number twenty-six, representing the fact that Campbell County was the twenty-sixth county to be created in the state of Tennessee.

Four symbols of a plow, representing the clearing of the frontier land as our great county was formed; forests and woodlands, and a sheaf of wheat representing the agricultural nature of the county; a pick and shovel reflecting the coal mining heritage of the county.
